Bayshore Safety & Industrial Supplies is committed to making bayshoresafety.com usable by everyone, including people with disabilities. We believe every customer should be able to find products, compare specifications, place orders and manage an account with the same ease, whatever assistive technology they use.

 

OUR STANDARD

 

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, the standard referenced by the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act. These guidelines explain how to make web content more perceivable, operable, understandable and robust for people with visual, hearing, motor and cognitive disabilities.

 

WHAT WE HAVE DONE

 

The site is built with semantic headings, landmarks and lists so that screen readers can navigate it; all navigation menus, search, filters, product configurators, cart and checkout can be operated with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus indicator; product photographs and logos carry descriptive alternative text; text and interface colors are chosen to meet WCAG contrast requirements, and the site can be enlarged to 200% without loss of content; forms have visible labels and clear error messages; carousels can be paused and advanced manually; and the layout adapts to phones, tablets and desktop screens, including screen readers on mobile devices.

 

ONGOING WORK

 

Accessibility is a continuing effort. We review new pages and features against WCAG 2.1 AA before they are released, test regularly with keyboard-only navigation and screen readers, and address issues that are reported to us. Some product content, such as manufacturer specification sheets, safety data sheets and certain manufacturer-supplied images, is provided by third parties and may not yet be fully accessible; if you need any of this information in an alternative format we will provide it.

When reporting a problem it helps to tell us the page address, the browser and assistive technology you were using and what happened. We take every report seriously and aim to respond within two business days.
