About our guides
Bayshore Safety is an industrial safety and PPE supplier, in business since 2017 and selling nationwide from Pittsburg, California. The guides are written by our staff from the standards and the manufacturers’ published data, for the people who have to meet those standards on a jobsite or in a plant.
How a guide is written
Each guide answers one question the way people type it. The plain-language answer comes first; the paragraph of the standard it comes from sits in a gray line under it, so a safety officer can read the top and a CHST can check the citation. Where the standard compares things, there is one table. Nothing is in a guide that the standard or the manufacturer does not say.
Who writes them
Our staff, who sell, service and fit test the equipment the guides describe, and who have fit tested thousands of workers. Bayshore Safety is also an authorized service and repair center for portable gas detection instruments, among the lines we carry.
How they are kept current
Every guide carries a “Current as of” month and the edition of the standard it cites. Each quarter we check every cited standard for a new edition or amendment and re-read the guides that cite it. The product lists under each guide are read live from our catalog and checked nightly against the manufacturers’ published ratings; an item whose rating no longer matches is removed until it is reviewed.
What they are not
The guides do not recommend products and do not tell you which protection level your job needs. The employer’s hazard assessment and written program decide that. The guides tell you what the standard requires and show you what in our catalog carries the rating, as the manufacturer publishes it.
