In plain words. Workplace first aid kits are labelled under ANSI/ISEA Z308.1 by Class and Type. Class A kits carry the basic supplies for common injuries; Class B kits carry more of each item plus extra items for larger or higher-risk workplaces. The Type says what the case is built for: Type I mounted indoors, Type II portable indoors, Type III portable and water-resistant for indoor or outdoor use, Type IV portable and waterproof for rough outdoor use. Refills are matched to the kit the manufacturer lists them for.
Technical. ANSI/ISEA Z308.1-2021 lists minimum contents by class (for example 16 adhesive bandages, 1 absorbent compress and 2 trauma pads for Class A; 50 adhesive bandages, 2 absorbent compresses, 4 trauma pads and a tourniquet for Class B) and tests the container for Types I–IV (mounting, portability, water resistance, impact). OSHA 29 CFR 1910.151 requires readily available first aid supplies and references Z308.1 as a guide. Eyewash stations are built to ANSI/ISEA Z358.1 (15-minute flush).

The employer's hazard assessment decides what protective equipment a job needs. Verify details against the manufacturer's current documentation before you buy.
