Fit testing and the OSHA standard
29 CFR 1910.134(f) requires a fit test before first use of a tight-fitting respirator, whenever a different facepiece is used, and at least annually; it allows the qualitative (QLFT) and quantitative (QNFT) protocols in Appendix A, which include the Bitrex (denatonium benzoate) and irritant smoke qualitative protocols.
