Fit testing and the OSHA standard
29 CFR 1910.134(f) requires a fit test before first use of a tight-fitting respirator, whenever a different facepiece is used, and at least annually; Appendix A lists the accepted qualitative protocols, including Bitrex (denatonium benzoate), and the quantitative protocols. The Dräger Bitrex kit instructions state the kit meets the performance criteria for fit testing half mask respiratory protective devices under current OSHA standards.
