3M 6000 Series Full Facepiece questions
What sizes does the 6000 full facepiece come in? Small 6700, Medium 6800, Large 6900; the DIN versions (6800DIN, 6900DIN) take a threaded canister instead of bayonet cartridges (3M user instructions; technical data sheet).
What is it made of? Silicone rubber faceseal, polycarbonate lens, silicone exhalation valve and gasket, thermoplastic elastomer nose cup and head harness; about 411 grams; lens to ANSI Z87.1 high impact (technical data sheet).
Is the nose cup required? 3M: the 6894 nose cup is not used with Powerflow, is optional with GVP and Breathe Easy PAPR, and is required for the other configurations (6000 full facepiece user instructions).
What is the Powerflow? The 6800PF and 6900PF are the 6000 full facepiece with a face-mounted PAPR blower; NIOSH TC-21C-0787 with the BP17IS battery and the 450-01-01 HE filter (NIOSH CEL). They are on the Powerflow page.
When is a cartridge changed? 3M states no end-of-service-life indicator for these cartridges; the change schedule is set by the employer under 29 CFR 1910.134(d)(3)(iii) (3M 6000 Series user instructions, Cartridge and Filter Replacement).
