Cross-sensitivity (handbook, p. 218): Higher alkyl mercaptans (propyl and butyl mercaptan) are also indicated with roughly the same sensitivity. A mercaptan measurement is not possible in the presence of hydro- gen sulfide, as hydrogen sulfide is also indicated with roughly twice the sensitivity.
Note (handbook, p. 218): After carrying out the 10 strokes, the reagent ampoule must be broken and the ampoule liquid applied to the indicating layer and carefully drawn through the indicating layer with the pump. After carrying out the 10 strokes, wait 3 min. before evaluation.
