Cross-sensitivity (handbook, p. 274): 100 ppm hydrogen chloride, 20 ppm chlorine, 10 ppm carbon tetrachloride, 10 ppm chloroform, or 5 ppm perchloroethylene are not indicated. Trichloroethylene and chlorobenzene are indicated with a lower sensitivity (5 ppm = reading of approx. 1.5 ppm). 1,1-dichloroethene is indicated with approximately the same sensi- tivity. Part of the oxidation layer is consumed under the influence of vapors of organic solvents, resulting in a correspondingly lower reading. Examples: 5 ppm vinyl chloride + 100 ppm butadiene or 5 ppm vinyl chloride + 10 ppm ethylene give a reading of 0.5 ppm vinyl chloride.

Draeger 8101721 questions
What does the Draeger 8101721 measure? Vinyl chloride in air, measuring range 5 to 30 ppm / 0.5 to 5 ppm.
How many pump strokes does the 8101721 take? 1 /5 strokes (n) per the handbook, p. 274. Measuring time approx. 30 s / approx. 2.5 min.
Which pump does the 8101721 use? A Draeger tube pump: the accuro hand pump or the X-act 5000. Per the handbook (p. 28–29), Draeger short-term tubes and Draeger tube pumps are matched at the factory and form a single unit; using other pumps with Draeger tubes, or other tubes with Draeger pumps, can impair the measurement.
What is the color change on the 8101721? white → purple, read against the scale printed on the tube.
Do Draeger 8101721 tubes expire? Yes. Draeger prints an expiration date (month and year) on the package; the handbook states a typical shelf life for the customer of up to two years, stored sealed at the temperature on the package strip (handbook section 2.13).
How many tubes are in a box of 8101721? 10. Each tube is used once.
