Cross-sensitivity (handbook, p. 144): Aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons are also indicated, but with different sensitivities. A carbon disulfide measurement is not possible in these cases. The same is true in the presence of carbon monoxide and hydrogen sulfide. Caution This tube must not be used in rooms in which carbon disulfide concentrations or other gases and vapors may be present in the explosion-hazard area. The indicating layer heats up. The lower explosive limit is 1 Vol% carbon disulfide.
