3M use notes for the D3097
Nuisance level refers to concentrations not exceeding the OSHA PEL or applicable government occupational exposure limits, whichever is lower. Nuisance-level relief is a 3M suggestion, not a NIOSH approval class. (3M Cartridge and Filter Summary (2024) note 2; 3M 6000 Series half facepiece user instructions Table 7 footnote 3)
3M HF-800 Series technical data (2025) footnote 2: "D3097 is 3M recommended for use against up to 1ppm ozone for up to 40 hours. Not NIOSH approved for ozone." 3M FF-800 Series user instructions and 3M Reusable Respirator Catalog (NIOSH) state 8 hours for D3097. Documents disagree; both are 3M recommendations, neither is a NIOSH approval.
For P series filters only when used in environments containing oil aerosols: Dispose of P-Series filters after 40 hours of use or 30 days, whichever is first. (3M Cartridge and Filter Guide (brochure 70-0714-8870-7))

NIOSH approvals
NIOSH does not approve a cartridge or filter on its own; the approval belongs to the facepiece with the cartridge or filter fitted. The CEL product lines for the HF-800 Series, FF-800 Series facepieces name the approved cartridge and filter configurations by type (chemical cartridge, filter, combination cartridge and filter); the 3M approval label packed with the facepiece lists the part numbers.
